What would Christmas be without our animal friends? Think of the Christmas Creatures that inhabit the holiday stories children love – from the North Pole stories to Nativity Stories, the animals play an important role. These stories are particularly important to the children who have a special love for animals, those who have pets or wish they did.
Here are three of our family’s favorite animal stories for Christmas time:
Have you ever wondered why reindeer pull Santa’s sleigh (and not sleigh dogs, elephants or giraffes, for example?) This is the story that tells how it all began.
Olive was living her life as a dog, until she heard the song, “Olive the other reindeer…” She figures she must belong at the North Pole, so off she goes. How do you think Santa and other reindeer will react to Olive when they see her? (For a Christmas surprise, click here)
A beautifully descriptive story told from the senses of a kitten at Christmas time. Originally published in 1949, the new illustrations by Anne Mortimer draw readers of all ages into the warmth of the story.
